In an increasingly diverse society, the need for effective communication between parents and educational institutions becomes paramount. Education Service Center, Region 20 (ESC Region 20) recognized this challenge and sought to promote English language proficiency among various nationalities residing in Texas. Their comprehensive range of programs and services encompass various aspects of education administration, instruction, and support. As part of their mission to cater to the diverse population residing in the region, ESC Region 20 decided to launch parent engagement programs.
Challenge:The main challenge faced by ESC Region 20 was the language barrier that parents with limited English proficiency encountered. Solution:ESC Region 20 partnered with myTranscriptionPlace, having expertise in interpretation and translation services. myTranscriptionPlace offered simultaneous interpreters in multiple languages, including Vietnamese, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, Telugu, Bosnian, Ukrainian, and Chinese, to support effective communication during parent engagement programs.
Implementation:Onboarding Skilled Interpreters: myTranscriptionPlace identified experienced interpreters fluent in the identified languages. These interpreters possessed not only linguistic expertise but also a deep understanding of educational terminology and cultural nuances, ensuring accurate and culturally sensitive interpretation. Before assigning them to projects, the interpreters underwent rigorous testing to guarantee their proficiency, further enhancing the quality of their interpretation services.
Seamless Integration: myTranscriptionPlace collaborated closely with ESC Region 20's program coordinators to seamlessly integrate interpreters into the parent engagement events. Coordination was crucial to ensure interpreters were available at the right time and location.
